As a family, we aim to stay open minded and flexible, ready to pivot and move in a different direction if research (scientific and our own personal trial and error) suggests there is a better way of living. We have changed many things we do over the years, however for a long time now, we have been very passionate about choosing only organically (or biodynamically) grown produce when we shop. If a plant food has been grown, harvested, and processed without the use of pesticides and synthetic chemicals including insecticides, fumigants, herbicides, and fungicides, and produced in an ethical and sustainable manner, then it’s very welcome in our fridge & pantry.
This also extends to our cleaning, bathing, beauty and first aid products, and of course our homewares must also be sustainably produced, environmentally friendly, not industrially processed and low in VOC’s and other toxins.
We have seen (and felt) enough evidence to convince us that leaning more into nature with the way we live in our homes not only reduces the amount of pesticides, heavy metals, GMO’s (genetically modified organisms), antibiotics, and growth hormones we consume, it also contributes to a higher intake of healthy antioxidants which can help reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, vision problems, premature ageing, and cognitive malfunction.
Perhaps most importantly, it encourages growers and makers to create more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable food & goods, which can only be good for humanity moving forward.
