Digest Botanical Tea

40grams

A happy digestive system is paramount for overall good health.  This herbal blend has been created to support a healthy gut, with peppermint, liquorice, ginger and lemon balm to  help soothe indigestion, constipation, nausea, ulcers, gas, heartburn and cramps.  Ate too much or ate too fast or just have a grumpy tummy?   Sip this slowly after your meal.

Ritual: Infuse 1 -2 tsp of tea in 1 cup of very hot water (not boiling) for 2-5 minutes before straining. Enjoy mindfully.

Certified Organic Ingredients: Peppermint, Ginger, Liquorice, Lemon Balm

PEPPERMINT  (Mentha piperita) leaves

Peppermint is one of the most widely used herbals in botanical teas, and has been shown to have significant anti-microbial and antiviral activities.  It is a strong antioxidant and has anti-tumour and anti-allergenic properties, but is probably best known for its ability to relax the gastrointestinal tract and ease indigestion, reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, decrease flatulence and relieve nausea and motion sickness

GINGER (Zingiber officinale) root

Ginger contains a natural component called Gingerol, which can help gastrointestinal motility ― the rate at which food exits the stomach and continues along the digestive process, promoting a more efficient digestion. It has traditionally been used to assist with a number of health issues including nausea, vomiting and pain. Ginger has been shown to have antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-neuroinflammation properties, and is widely used to help reduce nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, post anaesthesia and during chemotherapy. It may also help increase blood flow and circulation,  lower blood pressure, and  stimulate digestive enzymes.

LIQUORICE (Glycyrrhiza glabra) root

Liquorice root has a long history of use, being traditionally used for treating throat infections, tuberculosis, respiratory ailments and liver disease, and is known to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-immunodeficiency properties. Some research suggests it may be useful in relieving peptic ulcers.  It has traditionally been used to mitigate the toxicity of other herbs, and to add a delicious sweetness to herbal preparations.

Liquorice root may be contraindicated for chronic illnesses and conditions such as diabetes, hypokalemia, or low potassium, kidney disease, liver disease, erectile dysfunction and hormone-sensitive cancers, including breast and prostate malignancies.  Check with your health care practitioner before using.

LEMON BALM (Melissa officinalis)  ariels

Lemon balm is a member of the mint family and was used as far back as the Middle Ages to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep, improve appetite, and ease pain and discomfort from indigestion and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (including gas and bloating) as well as colic.  In addition to being a digestive stimulant it can help relieve allergies, and reduce anxiety and stress.
