Minna works intuitively, responding to her natural surroundings by creating functional, contemporary forms and employing traditional techniques and practices. Her work is reflective of diverse landscapes she has lived in and travelled to, drawing from environments and traditions of the many cultures she has explored. Minna lives in the Central Highlands of Victoria and is greatly affected by her immediate environment. As a result, nature is her greatest influence.
Concerned with the balance of contrasting textures and surfaces Minna employs various methods of surface treatment, tonal contrasts and texture to portray a collision of emotional responses to contrasting seasons, cultures and traditions. The softness and gentle warmth of spring with a memory of an icy winter. The threat of bush fire, the sweltering scorch and breathless, dry heat of summer. Autumnal colours and the smell of cut wood for the fire, are aspects embodied in her work.
