Refresh Botanical Tea

50grams

Growing a new life is an incredibly exciting, challenging and inspiring time of a woman’s life and nurturing both yourself and your baby is a priority.  This blend of organic herbs has been selected to nourish your changing body and support it during the growth and development of your child.  Providing out a host of antioxidants, this tea may help reduce fatigue, reduce the risk of varicose veins & haemorrhoids and help alleviate nausea.   This Plus version of our Grow tea also contains the raspberry leaf herb which has been used traditionally for centuries to help support female reproductive health.  It is believed to assist with increasing blood flow to the uterus, aiding muscle fibre contraction during labour, and to help prevent postdate pregnancy.   The best time to have raspberry leaf  appears to be in the third trimester of pregnancy, with some health practitioners recommending to avoid it during the first trimester.

Speak to your health practitioner to seek personalised advice before using.

Ritual: Infuse 1 -2 tsp of tea in 1 cup of very hot water (not boiling) for 2-5 minutes before straining. Enjoy mindfully.

Organic Ingredients: Ginger, Peppermint, Raspberry Leaf, Lemon Myrtle, Oat straw, Nettle

GINGER (Zingiber officinale) root

Ginger is considered a safe and effective treatment for pregnany induced nausea & vomiting.  It  contains a natural component called Gingerol, which aids digestion and may stimulate saliva flow. Ginger has been shown to have antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-neuroinflammation properties, and in addition to helping reduce nausea and vomiting during pregnancy it may also help increase blood flow and circulation,  lower blood pressure, and  stimulate digestive enzymes.

Ginger has an anti-inflammatory effect, but in high doses it may affect blood clotting, it is contraindicated for sufferers of gallstones, stomach irritation and high blood pressure.

PEPPERMINT  (Mentha piperita) leaves

Peppermint is one of the most widely used herbals in botanical teas, and has been shown to have significant anti-microbial and antiviral activities.  It is a strong antioxidant and has anti-tumour and anti-allergenic properties, but is probably best known for its ability to relax the gastrointestinal tract and ease indigestion, reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, decrease flatulence and relieve nausea and motion sickness.

RASPBERRY LEAF  (Rubus idaeus) leaves

Raspberry leaf has been used traditionally for many years to support female reproductive health. In addition to reducing menstrual cramping, regulating periods and supporting fertility, it has been used as a uterine tonic and general pregnancy tea for at least two centuries. It is believed to help increase blood flow to the uterus and aid the uterine muscle fibers in more organized contraction.. Historical uses include prevention of post date pregnancy, decrease in discomfort in prodromal labor, and decrease of morning sickness. It contains many nutrients including vitamins A, C, and E, as well as calcium, iron, and potassium.

The best time to have raspberry leaf  appears to be in the third trimester of pregnancy, with some health practitioners recommending to avoid it during the first trimester.

We recommend you speak to your health practitioner for individual advice.

LEMON MYRTLE (Backhousia citriodora) leaves

Australian Lemon Myrtle has been used for centuries by indigenous Australians.  The leaves were chewed for hydration and a range of important vitamins & minerals as well as for their antimicrobial properties. After crushing into a paste they were used on sores and boils, and the leaves were burnt as an insect repellent.  We now know that Lemon Myrtle is the world's richest known natural source of citral (90 - 98%) which is highly antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal.   The leaves also contain lutein which is important for eye health, protecting the retina from damage by inhibiting inflammation, and other important antioxidants.  Lemon Myrtle is often used to relieve the symptoms of colds, flu, bronchitis, indigestion and other irritable GIT disorders.

OAT STRAW  (Avena sativa)

Oat straw comes from the unripened Avena sativa plant, and has traditionally been used to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression and is considered to have a gentle, supportive nature.  It is a good source of many minerals including calcium & magnesium which work together for effective muscle stimulation & relaxation.  Oat straw also contains the antioxidants known as avenanthramides which help improve blood flow, and research has shown that it can boost brain function, improve mood and reduce inflammation.

NETTLE  (Urtica dioica) leaves

Nettle leaf contains a significant number of biologically-active compounds including vitamin C and pro-vitamin A, and has traditionally been used to relieve the symptoms of a variety of allergies including hayfever, as well as painful muscles and joints, eczema, gout and anaemia. It is rich in minerals with a high iron content and may help combat fatigue during pregnancy, as well as potentially improve the elasticity of veins helping reduce the occurrence of varicose veins and haemorrhoids. It has also been used for many years to support milk supply in breastfeeding mothers.
